We are very pleased to release our new x86 / NT / W2K Simple Search Spider port for Matt Wright's most excellent Simple Search for Unix..
The Dexterdyne Simple Search Spider requires ActiveState Perl 5.6.1 (or better) for windows. Please review the technical overview and download our new free Search Spider to your own W2K webserver environment for test or production applications.
While our Simple Search port has been brought to alpha using our own Thin Windows 2000 Apache Server model - our search spider technology for Windows 2000 should function just as well on any current x86 Windows OS CPU with ActiveState Perl and a public Webserver with an operational cgi-bin..
If you choose to install our Dexterdyne Simple Search Port for x86 / NT / W2K in another server environment (say IIS) - and as this is a freebee for the greater Windows 2000 server community - we would very much appreciate any further technical details or feedback you have so we can beef up the overview page for the next webmaster who happens by..

MS / RealOne Bug Reported: If you are being asked to 'save or open' *.RAM files in Explorer - you may have a small bug in your 'File Types' settings.
Simply go to your file explorer menu. Open - Tools> Folder Options> File Types> - scroll down to .RAM - hit the change button and pick Explorer - then hit the Restore button. Everything is Jake if the RealOne icon appears - close and you are done.
Here is a fairly bad 'how to' streaming windows player (100kbs) screen capture video. Flag me if you are still not getting anywhere
05/10/2002: Test e-transmitter sites are advised that there is a new W2K Apache version (2.35) available - e-transmitters installed on Apache 2.28 or below should update and install their servers now. We have completed beta testing here and can recommend the new version as stable. Updating may depreciate your 2.28 "Test Configuration" Windows workaround - we are building a new 2.35 version shortly and will alert you shortly as it GA's.
03/20/2002:
We have GA'd a
Test Configuration workaround for Apache 2.28 which will allow you to run configuration test routines from your windows program menu - it is available freely for download. Please be advised it is not a Apache.org sanctioned workaround nor is likely to be given that 2.35 is currently being released. However, we have released it as GA to dexterdyne e-transmitters to close several service requests regarding erroneous"..apache: illegal option -- w.. " error.
